Paint Swatch
Choosing to paint a rental is difficult enough. You have to have the landlord’s okay and you know you’re going to have to paint it back before you move out, but I will say it’s worth it, and there are ways to add color to your walls without painting an entire wall, but we’ll cover that more in a later post.
Once you’re okay to paint, next comes deciding on a color. Not sure what colors will look good together? Want to go for a bold color but don’t want to commit to a gallon of paint in a color you might hate? Then paint swatches are your friend.
A quick an easy approach is going to a local paint/hardware store and playing around with the swatches. Holding them side by side and/or bringing them home to dwell on them more.
In my new apartment I used the peel and stick sample swatches from BACKDROP that are much bigger than the swatches you get from the store. I ordered a few and moved them around different rooms. Letting the swatches hang out for a day or two, giving me the chance to get a good feel for what color would go best in what room and I was pleased with the results.
I’m the kind of person who likes to get things done fast but I’m glad I took my time with this part of the process. Eventually it lead to space with a color palette similar to that of the setting sun. The perfect balance of cool and warm.
Try playing with a bit of color yourself. I promise it’ll be worth it.
